Virtual Kidney Care Ecosystem

Redefining Kidney Care Through Connected Ecosystems

NephroX enables hospitals, governments, and clinics to deliver nephrology and dialysis care virtually — powered by SmartClinix technology and ATP’s global nephrologist network.

The Global Kidney Challenge

Kidney Disease Affects Millions — Yet Specialist Access Remains Limited

1 in 10 Adults Worldwide Has CKD

Chronic kidney disease affects over 850 million people globally, yet most remain undiagnosed until critical stages.

Severe Shortage in Rural Regions

Limited nephrologists and dialysis infrastructure force patients to travel hundreds of miles for life-saving treatment.

Late-Stage Diagnosis and Poor Follow-Up

Without continuous specialist care, preventable complications lead to premature deaths and healthcare system strain.

In a groundbreaking moment for global healthcare, American TelePhysicians (ATP) is proud to have played a central role in the launch of Jordan’s first national Virtual Hospital — a first-of-its-kind initiative officially inaugurated by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, in the presence of senior ministers and dignitaries.

Funded by the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and spearheaded by Jordan’s Ministry of Health and Ministry of Digital Economy & Entrepreneurship, this ambitious project positions Jordan at the forefront of healthcare innovation. At its heart is ATP’s flagship SmartClinix platform, serving as the core digital health technology powering the nation’s new virtual care ecosystem.

“This is a proud moment for American TelePhysicians and a breakthrough in how virtual care can save lives at scale,” said Dr. Waqas Ahmed, Founder & CEO of ATP.

We’re not just connecting doctors—we’re building a system where distance no longer limits access to critical care.

American TelePhysicians Powers Launch of Jordan’s First National Virtual Hospital

The Virtual Hospital is designed as a national model for scalable, life-saving care. Through SmartClinix, ATP delivers two mission-critical components:

  • Digital Front Door – Streamlining patient triage, virtual workflows, and care navigation across connected hospitals.

  • Tele-dialysis System – Converting dialysis units into ICU-like bays with real-time vitals monitoring, linked to a centralized virtual command center for rapid response.

Built by a Global Powerhouse Partnership

This pioneering project was made possible through a world-class consortium of international healthcare leaders:

  • Philips – Delivering TeleICU infrastructure for round-the-clock, centralized ICU monitoring.

  • Hakeem – Providing tele-radiology services for rapid, remote diagnostics.

  • Experia – Leading integration and local implementation.

“We are proud to lead this strategic collaboration to build a future-ready healthcare model for Jordan,” said Ahmad AlShamlih, Founder of Experia.

This Virtual Hospital initiative represents a new standard in how technology and partnerships can deliver critical care to every corner of the country.

Transforming Care for ESRD Patients

For patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), who depend on frequent dialysis and constant specialist oversight, the Virtual Hospital is nothing short of transformative. Before this project, many hospitals in Jordan struggled with:

  • No on-site nephrologists.

  • Inadequate dialysis infrastructure.

  • High rates of patient transfers to central hospitals.

  • Delayed intervention in emergencies.

Through ATP’s tele-dialysis innovation, these barriers are removed. Dialysis units are now ICU-grade, enabling:

  • Remote oversight by nephrologists and intensivists.

  • Immediate intervention during complications.

  • Reduced transfers to tertiary centers.

  • Seamless continuity of care via digital records and follow-ups.

“ESRD patients are among the most vulnerable in our healthcare system,” said Dr. Ahmed.

With SmartClinix, we are building a model where quality dialysis care doesn’t depend on geography.

A Milestone with Global Implications

Jordan’s Virtual Hospital is among the world’s first fully integrated national virtual healthcare systems — uniting TeleICU, tele-dialysis, tele-radiology, and a unified virtual care platform to break down the barriers of distance, infrastructure, and access.

By fusing cutting-edge technology with collaborative global expertise, this initiative creates a blueprint for nations worldwide to modernize healthcare delivery with physician-led, AI-powered virtual systems — ensuring that critical care can reach anyone, anywhere, anytime.
